Known UConn Games 2012 Season

Below is the updated list of known UConn games for 2012 fall season.  This is based on other teams' released schedules and media reports. All games are confirmed except for those marked by (?) which will be played as listed if the Big East schedule matrix remains the same. Games have been updated as of Thursday, June 28, 2012. At that time, women's basketball had released its non-conference schedule and home and away conference games (though not dates for the latter), and all fall sports as well as hockey had released their full schedules. Additionally, there are a few known men's basketball games.

Additonally, the Big East Semifinals and Final will be hosted by Morrone Stadium November 2 and 4. First round will be at campus sites October 25, followed by quarterfinals at campus sites October 28.

Comments: Very unusual. Four home games to open the regular season, but then 6 of 7 away. Then 5 of 6 at home to end it. I'm also looking forward to the Marist game since I'm from Poughkeepsie. That will be the first time I've seen a Marist-UConn game. I'll be on campus for the summer as well, to take summer courses. So I will get to see both exhibitions as well as UCLA and Vermont. BC and Maine are WOW Weeekend. Presumably this means the men play at home Saturday night again.  Pittsburgh is now listed as a road game on UConn's website, instead of a home game as was earlier stated. This concurs with what it says on Pitt's website, as well as with the 5-5 format.

Men's Soccer:

Saturday, August 25: vs. St. Francis (NY), 7:00 PM

Saturday, October 20: at Pittsburgh, 7:00 PM
Wednesday, October 24: at Providence, 3:00 PM
Saturday, October 27: vs. Providence, 7:00 PM

The First Round of the Big East Tournament will be October 31 on campus sites, followed by the quarterfinals on Saturday, November 3rd, also on campus sites. The semifinals and final will be November 9th and 11th at Red Bull Arena.

-
Note:

1. There will be 8 conference games, not 9. 7 within your division + one crossover. (This has been confirmed)
2. Everyone in the Blue Division will play their travel partner home-and-away due to the loss of West Virginia. Pitt, WVU's travel partner, will play two cross-over games and no home-and-away.

Comments: More ight games this year than in past years. Penn State is the same time as the soccer game vs. Dartmouth. New Hampshire doesn't have any know conflicts (as of May 30). Providence will start while women's soccer is wrapping up. That may also be "First Night". And there are several road night games as well. Last home game is October 14, although we may host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament again. Two games over WOW Weekend should be nice.

Update: 100th Game, Est Terminus, and More

Well, I've been somewhat delinquent with posting summaries to this blog, but the game log should be updated. As many as three more games this weekend (with the first being my 100th Game) and that's it for 2011-2012. Well, more like Spring 2012, due to my medical leave. We'll have Est Terminus, my annual wrap-up, sometime during finals week.

Well, I'll be at my 100th game most likely tomorrow, and that's exciting. But then I've got to study for finals. It's been a great year, Husky fans!

Game 2-21-89: Baseball vs. Yale

What: Baseball vs. Yale
Where: J.O. Christian Field
When: Wednesday, March 21, 3:00 PM
Result: Win, 8-0

I arrived at the JOC at 2:45 after being delayed on the bus several times. I was worried I would miss the start of opening day, but I managed to get there in time. The K-9 Unit was there as we were last year, but unfortunately they did not have a shirt in my size. So, I'll just have to wait to get one. That's ok. We've got many more games this year.

As for the game itself, it wasn't very close. Pat Butler had a no-hitter through five innings, and we shut out the Yale Bulldogs, 8-0. LJ Mazilli hit a home run in the bottom of the first to put us up 2-0, and we didn't look back. The weather was also very nice. Last year, we didn't have a game with the weather above 50 degrees until Quinnipiac the last week of classes. It's March 21 and we already had one this year. We have four more games in March, so we could and should have more nice days before April.

The Bulldogs looked like a second-class team, and they were. Big East play should be closer, but this wasn't. Some students found a list of pitcher heckles and were shouting them throughout. Very amusing. You can view it here if you're interested.

Our next home game is next Tuesday. I will  have to arrive late due to class, but I will be there. Hopefully we can win again. I will also be at the lacrosse game vs. Syracuse over the weekend. The Orange are a good team, so that will be tough. For now, Go Huskies!

Schedule Through April 1 (Repost)

The new version of my schedule through April 1.

Key:

(Y) - Will Attend
(P) - Probably Attending
(M)- Might Attend
(D) - Doubtful to Attend
(YL), (PL), (ML), or (DL): Same as Y, P, M, or D but indicates I will be arriving late

Wednesday, March 21:

3:00 PM: Baseball vs. Yale (Y)

Saturday, March 24:

1:00 PM: Women's Lacrosse vs. Syracuse (Y)

Tuesday, March 27:

3:00 PM: Baseball vs. Hartford (PL)
4:30 PM: Softball vs. Sacred Heart, Game 2 of Doubleheader (DL) If it is still early in the game after the baseball contest, I may attend. However, I have a class at 7:00 so I will have to leave early possibly.

Wednesday, March 28:

3:00 PM: Baseball vs. Central Connecticut State (Y)
4:00 PM: Softball vs. Boston University (DL) Same as Sacred Heart, except it's not Game 2 of a doubleheader and I don't have class at 7:00

Friday, March 30:

3:00 PM: Baseball vs. Seton Hall (Y)

Saturday, March 31:

1:00 PM: Baseball vs. Seton Hall (Y)

Sunday, April 1:

1:00 PM: Baseball vs. Seton Hall (Y)

Looking ahead, we have a slow time after that. I'll be home the weekend of April 6, although we do have one game that week before. Then there are no other games until April 14, most likely. Stay tuned!
